First recorded in 1971, Al Green's inspired "Let's Stay Together" was No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 16 weeks. It topped Billboard's R&B chart for nine weeks, and was ranked as the overall No. 11 song of 1972. Rolling Stone calls it No. 60 on their "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list.
In 2010, the Library of Congress added "Let's Stay Together" to the National Recording Registry, their annual selection of "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" recordings.
