Founded by Mexico City-born designer and metalsmith Mónica Ruzansky, Aili (pronounced "Eye-lee") means "light" in Gaelic/Celtic. Scientifically defined as "the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes visible a form of energy", illumination in all its glory serves as the beating heart of her striking collection of contemporary jewelry:
The ability to capture luminescence -- as if through a photographic lens -- and transform it's ethereal essence into a delightfully tactile modern collection of one of a kind heirloom necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
Which comes as no surprise considering how Mónica's earlier award winning career as a professional photographer, where catching just the "right light" was a constant inspiration and essential ingredient to her visual palette, was the pitch perfect artistic springboard for her current handcrafted creations.
Add in a vibrant imagination and fierce attention to detail, and the result is a perfect synthesis of dual creative mediums that infuse Aili's beautiful line of wearable art with their trademark radiant + timeless style.
It can start with an image in my head that I sketch by hand onto a blank, and I’m not always sure where it comes from... but generally I get inspiration from spending time in nature as well as playing with geometry.
